Summary:
Work with our Telecommunications field crews to design, configure, install, and maintain our field telecommunications network. Our field telecommunications network consists of routers and other communication devices used to connect electrical field devices to servers located in our datacenters.
Responsibilities:

Lead the design and implementation of new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks.

Recommend alternative technologies or improvements to enhance information systems to support organizational goals.

Analyze existing systems to ensure we offer adequate security and availability and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization.

Configure, install, and maintain various network and security devices and services.

Configure, install, and maintain various servers and software applications that assist us in managing and maintaining our network.

Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.

Interacts with co-workers, vendors, the general public and representatives of other organizations to obtain and disseminate information, advise on projects, resolve conflicts, set priorities, coordinate activities, complete projects within time and budget constraints.

Make sure network diagrams and documentation for as-is network configurations are kept up to date.

Evaluates new products and services from vendors to determine applicability to hardware, software, networks.

Researches federal, state and local laws, rules, regulations, ordinances, policies and procedures to ensure compliance and client agencies in the provision of telecommunications systems, and ensure systems are operated within the legal parameters.

Assists in developing the company’s telecommunications road map and has input into the department’s budget.

Supervisory Responsibility may lead a team of field techs.

After hours support and part of an on-call rotation.
Qualifications and requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related subject

Experience with configuring, testing and supporting network infrastructures and telecom(routers and switches)

Experience with securing operational technology network (firewalls and other security devices)

Good technical understanding of network hardware, Network security, Internet standards, and protocols.

Good written and verbal communications skills.
Additional Skills not required but would be nice to have:

Experience with configuring, testing and supporting network applications and server infrastructure (SolarWinds, Nokia NSP/SPE, InfoBlox etc.)
