We are seeking a full-time Trade Show & Events Specialist at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you’ll be responsible for executing and advising on all aspects of tradeshows and events including planning, design, installation, removal, shipping, storage and reporting. Other essential functions include:
- Act as primary onsite adviser for Garmin trade shows and events and communicate key information to the Events Manager including execution and recommendation of business appropriate decisions related to the assigned event.
- Responsible for the creation and execution of shipping orders, labor orders, and packing orders for trade shows
- Provide recommendations on resources for tradeshow events
- Perform onsite supervision of contract staff performing the erecting, dismantling, shipping and storage of tradeshow collateral to ensure Garmin success at trade events.
- Works closely with all levels of the organization to ensure timely execution of events including leading tradeshow planning meetings and gathering objectives for each event.
- Maintain physical inventory of Garmin’s trade show properties and collateral.
- Creates and implements pre- and post- event reports which include qualitative and quantitative data collected on-site including event follow up with Sales staff to determine strengths and opportunities for future events
- Research and resolve show site or workplace issues as they arise in a timely manner
- Independently execute show site orders as directed
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR 5 years of experience in event execution, including project management experience relevant to this job description. Qualified candidates must also be available to travel domestically 75% of the time, sometimes for multiple days at times, over the weekends. Other required qualifications include:
- Must be willing to travel to event locations up to 75% of the time.
- Able to use personal transportation or Garmin provided transportation to move items back and forth from the off-site exhibit facility to Garmin HQ as needed
- Ability to execute projects based on direction from multiple sources, while maintaining effective relationships
- Must be willing and able to perform manual labor as needed, specifically exhibit booth install and dismantling work and packing/shipping of show freight
- Heavy lifting is required, up to 50 pounds
- Must have good organization skills and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills in Word and Excel
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
- Ability to operate power tools and manual tools as needed.
