Trainee Accounts Assistant

Persimmon Homes Thames Valley has a vacancy for a Trainee Assistant Accountant to join their successful and growing team. This role will be based in the regional office in Camberley, Surrey.

This role will be predominantly working with the accounting responsibilities associated with maintaining the purchase ledger and subcontractor ledger and responsibilities are:

Assisting/ working with purchase ledger clerk
Processing a high volume of supplier invoices
Register, match and cost PL invoices.
Dealing with supplier queries
Supplier statement reconciliations
Month end purchase ledger reporting and analysis
Advising on and checking correct VAT treatment for invoices

You will also be required for routine assistance to the subcontractor clerk and accounts supervisor including:

Entering payment applications and invoices onto subcontractor ledger
Verifying subcontractors with HMRC
Ensuring compliance with CIS
Subcontractor queries
Month end Subcontractor reporting
Adhoc accounts duties
As a trainee you will have hands on experience of working in a busy accounts department, working in a role specifically tailored to start at an entry level and develop alongside your studies to incorporate a wide range of accounting duties.

You will have access to a team with a range of knowledge including a Chartered Accountant, ACCA Qualified accountant and years of on the job accounting experience.

Qualifications/Experience 

Someone with good attention to detail, a team player who has good people skills and the confidence to liaise with and challenge internal business partners (on site and in the office) and suppliers. Basic excel knowledge is preferred.
