The Role
The purpose of the role and your unique contribution is to provide leadership through your technical expertise and knowledge. Your decision making, guidance and mentoring will support the effectiveness of our market facing underwriters including oversight of risk selection and acceptance.
Your role will interact with our customers and partners and will ensure we maintain strong relationships that develop opportunities and deliver excellent customer experiences. Your decisions on complex risk selection and appetite will be critical in delivering our Insurance margin, growth and retention targets. Through your role, we will be able to deliver a consistent customer experience across the WFI brand.
Key Responsibilities
• Consistent execution of the Underwriting Strategies that delivers on profitability, growth and retention for the WFI Brand
• Advise and influence of the Underwriting Strategies using your technical experience and market knowledge
• Identify issues or opportunities and provide solutions
• Through your understanding of the complexity of our customer risks, your role will develop solutions to enhance our performance and propositions in the market
• Lead, motivate and inspire team members to deliver exceptional customer service through coaching, mentoring and development activities
• Through your underwriting and the referral process, manage our adherence to pricing, risk selection and acceptance guidelines
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) to optimise outcomes, generate opportunity and resolve complex issues
• Through the underwriting referral process and pro-active engagement, support the technical development and capability of our Sales Team
• Analyse and implement improvements to underwriting processes learned from QA
• Develop and or support the development of our appetite into new or emerging opportunities and identify risks on areas of risk that should be curtailed
Skills & Experience
• Solid experience and complex understanding in Insurance
• A proven track record of successfully managing and leading a high performing team
• Strong commercial acumen demonstrating in depth knowledge of current market trends and influences
• Experience in collaborating with others to develop robust, flexible plans that deliver on expectations
• Passion for developing people and the ability to drive a continuous improvement focus
• Tertiary qualification or Insurance qualification
