How you will make contributions that matter…
The Vice President will be responsible for providing strategic direction for the compensation and benefits function in the Canadian and U.S. divisions to support the attraction, motivation and retention of talent, ensuring programs are aligned to global strategy. The U.S. payroll function will also report into this role. Collaborate internally, in addition to maintaining an external focus on best practices and the competitive environment. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role, and requires the ability to be both strategic and tactical. Lead the development and coaching of 3 direct reports and an extended team of 20.
You are best suited for the role if you…
Partner with key business stakeholders, including divisional and corporate HR leadership, to ensure optimal solutions and client service; serve as both a consultative and technical resource to these stakeholders.
Evaluate programs, policies and practices and recommend and implement options based on overall effectiveness, benchmarks, market assessment, business objectives and cost impact.
Develop and implement a total rewards communication strategy connected to broader HR programs.
Ensure compliance with applicable country, state/provincial and local regulations. Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place.
Manage, develop, mentor and coach the team; provide leadership and guidance for direct reports and encourage individual growth and development.
With a focus on continuous improvement, infuse rigor and process into the compensation and benefits and payroll functions to enable best practices; maintain integrity of compensation structures and decisions that drive pay equity; ensure that people, processes, and resources are organized in a manner aligned to strategically meeting current and future business objectives.
Build strong relationships with vendors and consultants and manage performance for seamless administration and an optimized employee experience.
M&A due diligence and integration associated with the geographic area of responsibility.
Assist in the administration and communication of long-term incentive plans.

Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Twelve or more years of progressive compensation and benefits experience in a large corporate environment and at least five years of management experience.
Bilingual preferred, French & English (spoken and written)
Demonstrated ability to execute on plans and projects within budget and timeframes; of getting things done quickly and efficiently with limited resources.
Expert knowledge of government regulations, compliance and tax code as they apply to compensation and benefit plans and payroll practices.
Exceptional analytical, planning and organization skills.
Be a proven strategic thinker, quick on his/her feet, able to rapidly assimilate information and problem solve.
Have a credible track record of building and leading effective, high performance teams and organizations and processes to support the strategic direction of the business and the reputation for getting results from others through empowerment and accountability.
Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills including strong listening, negotiation, persuasion and facilitation skills will all levels of leadership and employees.
Convey confidence and credibility: must be able to quickly gain trust with internal and external constituents.
Ability to travel as required.
