Verisign enables the security, stability, and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including providing root zone maintainer services, operating two of the 13 global internet root servers, and providing registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce.

Vice President – Government Relations/Policy (PRC)

The Vice President for this role is an experienced leader in building and maintaining constructive working relationships with various PRC governmental agencies and institutions, as needed, reporting to the SVP-Naming.  This role is a corporate executive who regularly provides guidance, in consultation and coordination with other business leaders, to the senior management of the Company.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated integrity and commitment to compliance with laws and regulations, including but not limited to US FCPA and Chinese anti-corruption laws and policies
  • Demonstrated expertise in successfully working with various Chinese governmental agencies, institutions and trade associations at the central and local levels in the telecommunications, internet or other technology sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical solutions and timely responses to routine inspections, investigations and other requests or inquiries from Chinese governmental agencies that best serve the business needs and interests of one’s employer.

  • Demonstrated ability to represent and advocate company positions on issues related to the development of regulations, measures, policies and standards in the telecommunications, internet or other technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and in keeping senior corporate leaders apprised of developments and trends in the areas of industrial policies and technology standards.

Required experience

  • 15 years of related experience with extensive and hands-on experience in a governmental relationship role based in mainland China
  • At least 5 years of in-depth experience working for a multinational company in China as a division or function leader in charge of governmental relationship function in the telecommunications, internet or other technology sectors

 Preferred skills

  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients at all levels.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal and state employment and labor laws, regulations, procedures, and standards.
  • Strong leadership experience of a customer-centric and highly collaborative organization.
  • Knowledge of Verisign business operations, strategies and goals.
  • Strategic thinker, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Highly effective communicator, demonstrating ability to partner and influence required

Education

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience, preferably in engineering, business, finance, communications, consulting, management, law, government and/or politics
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent work experience with an MBA or related field

 Language Proficiency

  • Excellent English in Written & Verbal
  • Native Chinese in Written & verbal
