This role leads the Americas Field Engineering team which is a very significant group within the overall Field Organization for the Americas. The team provides Pre and Post Sales support that helps differentiate Cadence as a partner of choice for our customers in the Americas.
The job holder will be responsible for building executive level relationships with our customers and leading a team of over 500 highly talented employees. This team primarily consists of application engineers based in North America and Brazil who provide all aspects of pre-sales support to drive new business and post-sales support focused on expanding the effective use of our technology to address our customer’s challenges.
Additionally, this team works closely with the Application Engineer and Sales teams in other regions to drive customer success with our US Headquartered Global Customers with sites outside the Americas. The team also leverages their close connection with the customer to provide a vital conduit back to the R&D and Product Engineering teams. This feedback provides valuable insight for these groups from our customers and influences our future product roadmap.
The job holder needs to have extensive design, verification and leadership experience which will allow him/her to build strong and productive relationships with key technical leaders and executives at our customers, working at a strategic technical level with these influencers and positioning Cadence as a key business partner.
The EDA market is highly competitive – our technical field organization is a clear competitive differentiator and the job holder needs to work closely with our customers to align with their business goals and technical challenges.
The VP of TFO has to be a high profile, well connected and strongly credible technical leader who can effectively manage a finite pool of resources, satisfy constant demand for technical support from the sales teams, and work with his or her leadership team to attract, retain and develop high caliber engineers with the right skills to support technically sophisticated customers.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor and/or Masters in Electronic Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from a reputable institution
- At least 15 years’ experience of IC and / or System design and verification experience
- Experience of managing large, multilocational teams
- Demonstrated Ability to partner with globally diverse teams
- Build and leverage cross-functional partnerships within and outside the organization
- Ability to travel, both domestic and abroad, as required
- Substantial leadership experience with proven expertise in building high performing technical teams
- EDA experience is a plus
