We are recruiting a Policy Officer based in Brussels (Belgium) to integrate into the Group Public Affairs Department.
The PANGEO will contribute to the Public Affairs Department’s purpose, that is anticipating and influencing policy as well regulatory developments at EU level, across our 3 traditional business lines and mainly on energy and climate issues. Additional tasks will include monitoring of EU funds as well as the air quality framework.
Description of the responsibilities:
- Active support to the various missions of the Director;
- Monitoring and follow-up of regulatory news in the field of energy at European level (heat networks, electricity market, energy storage, energy efficiency, CCS, hydrogen, renewable energies, air quality), follow-up of developments around the European Green Deal;
- Monitoring and follow-up of issues related to EU funding and in member countries (including the taxonomy file);
- Support in the follow-up of the European agenda (update of the European consultation calendar);
- Drafting of regular newsletters (on funding, including EU taxonomy; energy storage, air quality, climate policies at global, EU and national level);
- Assistance in drafting group positions;
- Participation in team meetings, working groups of different professional associations and with representatives of the European institutions, and report back on these;
- Contribute to relevant public consultations published by the European Commission;
- Participate in various events webinars and conferences
- Acquire a good understanding of the Group’s businesses, positions and challenges
Qualifications
Master’s degree in European affairs, candidates with a degree in law or political science with a strong focus on European affairs (from e.g. Sciences Po, College of Europe, London School of Economics or other European universities) would also be considered
Previous experience: a first professional experience in public affairs would be an asset
Skills: knowledge of the energy and climate field, knowledge of the EU decision-making process, very good interpersonal skills, cooperation and team spirit skills, ability to work independently and draft concisely, fast learning and ability to assimilate and get familiar with new topics, excellent command of the Google suite (Drive, Gmail, Google Slide, Google +, Google doc …),
Languages: professional English skills are required, any other language skills would be an asset
Other: an interest for scientific and technical topics would be an asset
