Job Summary:
Responsible for utilizing a variety of problem-solving and quantitative methods to provide targeted engineering solutions across the Final Mile Services business unit.
Job Description:
J.B. Hunt’s Final Mile Services operates the largest nationwide, commingled cross-dock network with more than 90 locations around the country. We specialize in optimized warehouse solutions for retail fulfillment operations and home delivery of non-conveyable products such as appliances and furniture. We leverage an asset-based delivery network and dedicated non-asset-based solutions to create the best value for our customers.
- Work as a member of a team focused on process analysis and improvement efforts, management science solution development, business intelligence and analytics, and customer-facing sales engineering solution design creation
- Apply engineering methods to improve the productivity, quality, safety, performance, and profitability of warehouse network operations
- Provide guidance to operations teams on warehouse throughput maximization, effective space utilization and labor planning
- Develop standard processes to measure operational effectiveness to generate business insight and tangible value
- Design and implement process, systems, and technology solutions to meet customer and company business needs
- Analyze customer supply chains to provide improvement recommendations that consider transportation and warehouse costs for improved overall solutions
- Calculate appropriate cost-benefit analyses to support all recommendations
- Communicate and sell improvement ideas to key decision makers
Qualifications:
SPECIFIC SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Ability to use and apply mathematical concepts and analytical tools that drive business goals forward. Experience with the practical application of Lean / Six Sigma concepts is a plus.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 25 – 30%
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Math, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent required. Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering and warehouse improvement experience.
